Last Sunday, for fun, we decided to stay overnight in Tune Hotel Damansara after a wedding dinner, so we can take our sweet time doing some Christmas shopping and taking naps and driving home slowly. So we booked ourselves into a Double room with a Queen size bed, and hauled along an Air Bed. I had a great experience in Tune Hotel Kota Kinabalu a couple of years ago, and so I went there with high expectations.
The first thing when we arrived at Sunsuria Avenue, I expected that there will be a lobby or welcoming area on the Ground floor, but the lobby was on the 3rd floor, we actually circled the empty looking building twice wondering where to enter. Finally I just jumped into the lift, and on there was there a sign at the button showing Tune Hotel logo. The lobby was seriously small, unlike the nice big one in KK, it’s just a counter and a couple of computers and two massage chairs that you have to pay to use.
Check in was nice and easy, we gave RM5 for the key card deposit and went up to our room on the 5th floor. However, once we reached there, it was total darkness. A few of the workers were there but didn’t say a thing, as we went into our room, which was really hot by the way, coz it was a window room facing the sun rise. And there was a trip, at that point, all good points went down the drain. We had rushed to the hotel as Josiah was falling asleep but due to the heat, he was totally awake again, and it took us another hour plus to make him take his nap again.
The room was so small that we nearly couldn’t put up our airbed, there was just exact space for it. but the bathroom door cannot be opened after that.
The bathroom was not as nice either, there wasn’t a rain type shower head, not as big anyways. The shower area is open and not separated by a glass divider like the one in KK, so water is just everywhere after a shower, on the toilet seats etc. This time, no general soap dispenser either, we have to prepare everything ourselves this time, which we didn’t, so we just used baby’s shower gel.
The good thing now, there is a food court just opposite the hotel, a pretty good and big one called Asia Cafe. Nothing much is open in the mornings though, only in evenings. However, Sunway Giza the new neighbourhood is really nearby too, we took a walk there before heading home. Of course, no need to say, this place is very near to Ikea and Ikano, it’s the best place to stay for those coming from out of town and needing a night’s stay after a tiring shopping trip.
