Price Hike!

Today must be a crazy day for all voters..I mean..Malaysians in general, especially those that drive. Petrol prices is going up RM0.78 per liter in one and a half hour’s time, 12 midnite of 4th June. That’s like crazy increase. My humble little Myvi that usually only needs to gulp down RM60 to be satisfied, now needs at least RM80 to make it move. Wow..anyways, we had to drive the car out just now, even though I have a pretty full tank, to see if I can get a full topup before midnite. We drove past 2 Petronas, 2 Shells and 1 Caltex, and guess what, all of them have at least a 2 km stretch of hungry cars crawling into the stations. I wondered if the last car can make it in time. So we gave up and came back. It is not without hope, like PM said, Malaysians just need a change of lifestyle instead of complaining. Here are some tips how you can avoid ‘feeling’ the inflation and all the price hikes…especially this petrol hike.

1) Drive less. I pity those that drive to work in KL and PJ when they stay so far away. Personally, I drive only 10 minutes to reach my work place and back. I can really safe petrol if I only drive to work and no where else. Therefore, I’ve decided, the car will be used only for work. For leisure, we shall take the bike or train for further places.

2) Eat in. I’ve been cooking more nowadays. Obviously, it is more expensive to eat out. Some more, you have to drive out to go somewhere to eat. While if you eat in, not only you don’t waste petrol, cooking yourself is also cheaper and healthier!

3) Eat less…considering that with the fuel price hike, every other thing is also gonna hike. So what price of rice is going up too..how about eating less? Eat more home grown vege than anything else 🙂

4) Convert to NGV engine. Costing about RM3k plus depending on what kind of car you drive. Definitely cut your fuel price to half.

5) What else can we do to handle this issue like it didn’t happen?
