My Worldvision child has grown so big! It must have been a couple of years since I signed up for child sponsorship with Worldvision, and had been sponsoring only RM50 a month to this girl, Koem Theary. The money goes to Worldvision’s project in building the community which she lives in, in Bati, Cambodia. WV helps in building schools, providing medical support, teaching them livelihood and so much more. With more people’s help, Cambodia will see a totally transformed next generation.
I received Koem’s pic recently and a report of her health, her education, her family etc. She writes to me in Khmer and it gets translated. I beat myself coz I have not written to her as frequently. Ok I will get to it soon. Koem loves to draw, everytime she writes, she draws me something. It’s so cute, I love it. I definitely hope to visit her one fine day, Cambodia is not that far away, plus our church has an outreach there with Ps Kala.
I can’t imagine without WV’s project, what would Koem be doing now. Her family is poor, her parents are farmers, and even before she was 10 years old, she had to do many household chores and cook for her family. Because of this project, she gets to go to school, and she loves going to school. If not, she might end up in the streets like many other unfortunate kids whose parents are ignorant about the power of education. The sad thing is, Cambodia isn’t the only poor country. There’s so many more out there. If every citizen of the world just sponsor one child, it’s not much from us, but it sure makes a huge difference for the next generation.
