Once again, the WordPress people had released the upgrade version to fight some security problems to do with the xmlprc.php file. I downloaded the whole thing at first to install a new WP site, but all the files were not in their respective folders, like wp-admin, wp-content, etc. I wonder why it’s like this?? Anyways, I’m also kinda lazy to have to upload all the new files as I didn’t know which file has changed. It wouldn’t be logical for me to go through each and every file. But thank God, I came upon this site by DavidRussell – Spontaneous Monotony and he was mentioning that only 5 files has actually changed. David found this opensource software called Winmerge that actually highlights that codes that are different. This still way too long a step. I agree with David in why WordPress didn’t just come up with patch with the changed files instead of making people download the whole thing. Well, thanks to those developers out there like SimpleThoughts who made everything easy for us lazy people by providing the patch in a zip file.
Kudos to you man! I manage to upgrade 3 WP blogs in less than a minute. One more blog to go that hasn’t even been update to 1.5.1.2. Yea that’s how lazy I am.
All I did was check the 1.5.1.3 changelog in the WordPress Codex uploaded the files mentioned were changed. Piece of cake.
The Codex is always good.
