Sacrifice

candle
Like a candle and a match
One is ignited to give light to the other
The match burned for the moment
To allow the candle to burn brighter

The beautiful flow of the candle
Gives light, gives warmth
Signifies hope, love and life
Burning itself that others might rejoice

Eventually the candle burns itself out
Its fire glowing brightest
Before finally fading
As the fire goes out, it dies

The match watches in agony
Yet nothing can be done
The match has given its only fire
It cannot light another

The candle is now but wax
But the hope, life and love it’s given
Does not go forgotten
Yes it was short while it lasted
But maybe a life was saved
Maybe a hope was passed on
Maybe it’s given vision
Yes it’s worth the sacrifice

No faces, no faces
