Last weekend, my sister from Sarawak came over for a holiday with her whole family and was staying in Dorsett Regency Kuala Lumpur, so my family and I decided to book a night’s stay there as well so we can spend more time together, plus the kids would love to have a short staycation in the city to see the Christmas decorations and performances going on there. That night, we decided to just order Room Service, but you know how hotel prices are, a wee bit above our budget. So we decided to go with Foodpanda. Foodpanda is a food delivery service that has over 500 restaurants to choose from. They even have an iPad and iPhone app so it’s really easy to use. You can just download the app here for IOS or Android Devices.
Just watch the video to see how I ordered using my iPad. My kids love fish and seafood so I decided to order from Fish n Co. Foodpanda advertised their delivery time as about 1 hour, but I was so surprised when they arrived in about half an hour only. Granted, we were really near to Pavilion. I was also wondering whether they can deliver to a hotel, and well, my experience has proven that they can. You can see that the pricing is the same as if you eat in the restaurant itself, just add on RM4 for delivery charges, fair deal.
The delivery man called me while I was in the room, so I hurried down to the lobby to bring the food up. Was pleasantly surprised that he was very friendly and was even ready with the correct change for my charges. They are very tech savvy, he gets a message on his smartphone about my delivery and the charges he is to collect from me. No wonder they are so fast. I wanted to take his pic for The Butterfly Project Malaysia and he was really happy to comply. Even took off his jacket and pose properly (the jacket was covering the Foodpanda shirt).
My hubby and kids were really happy with the service and of course the food. They didn’t have to walk down to the restaurant, and can spend more time splashing in the bath tub. Only when the food arrived did they actually come out of the bathroom! We get to utilise the hotel facilities fully and didn’t have to fight with the weekend crowd, lining up at the restaurant and waiting for a long time. With a preschooler and a toddler in tow, waiting is never an easy and fun time.
We quickly finished our meal and since we saved so much time thanks to Foodpanda, we get to go and watch the Christmas Musical at Pavilion KL. I thought the dance was really entertaining. I had a most fun and relaxing weekend, no cooking, no queuing up, no trying to beat the jam!
wow nice service, and nice to know they deliver to Hotel too.
