I’ve been using the Samsung Galaxy A34 for about a month now, and I’m overall pretty impressed with it. It’s a budget-friendly phone that offers a lot of great features, including a long-lasting battery, a sharp display, and a versatile camera system. Even though I had been using the Samsung Galaxy S22+ for over a year now, changing to the A34 didn’t feel like an obvious downgrade at all. With its fantastic price point and multiple features, I thought it is a really worthy competitor or will work amazing as a secondary phone. Yes, I do carry two phones nowadays as one phone is no longer enough for one person, what with all the photography, movies on the go, calls and surfing that I do daily.
The Galaxy A34 has a sleek and modern design. It’s made of plastic, or Samsung calls it Glastic that feels sturdy and well-built. Glastic = Glass+Plastic, so it’s essentially plastic that is made to look like glass and is also highly durable. The phone is available in four colors: Awesome Violet, Awesome Graphite, Awesome Silver and Awesome Lime. I have the violet version but the lime is probably the most unique colour, being available only for online purchase. I love how fingerprints don’t easily stick on the back of the phone, however, most of us definitely will cover it with a case right.
The phone is relatively lightweight, weighing in at just 199 grams. It’s also relatively thin, measuring just 8.2mm thick. This makes it easy to hold and use with one hand. I use it mostly for events and outdoor shooting of TikTok videos and IG reels due to how light it is.
The display is a 6.6-inch AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. The display is bright and vibrant, and it has excellent viewing angles. It is also very responsive, making it great for gaming and scrolling through social media.
I have been using the phone for one month now, and I have been very impressed with the display. The colors are accurate, and the details are sharp. The 120Hz refresh rate makes the display feel very smooth, and it is especially noticeable when scrolling through webpages or playing games.
I have also been using the phone in direct sunlight, and the display is still very readable. The brightness is good enough to see the screen clearly, even in bright sunlight.
Overall, I am very happy with the display of the Samsung Galaxy A34 5G. It is a bright, vibrant, and responsive display that is perfect for everyday use.
Camera
The Samsung Galaxy A34 5G has a triple-camera system on the back. The main camera is a 48MP sensor, and there is also an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 5MP macro camera. The front-facing camera is a 13MP sensor.
For someone like me who is not a professional photographer, the camera system on the Samsung Galaxy A34 5G is more than capable of taking great photos. The main camera takes good photos in good lighting conditions. The colors are accurate, and the details are sharp. The ultrawide camera is also good, but it does not take as sharp photos as the main camera. The macro camera is a bit of a gimmick, but it can be fun to use for taking close-up photos, like when I spotted a tiny lady bug in my garden but I can’t use a normal camera phone to focus on it.
The camera system also has a number of features that can be helpful for regular users. These features include:
- Portrait mode: This mode allows you to take photos with a blurred background, which can be great for portraits.
- Night mode: This mode allows you to take photos in low-light conditions, without the photos being too noisy.
- Food mode: This mode enhances the colors of food photos, making them look more delicious.
- Super steady mode: This mode helps to stabilize your videos, so they don’t look shaky.
Overall, the camera system on the Samsung Galaxy A34 5G takes good photos in a variety of conditions, and it has a number of features that can be helpful for taking everyday photos.
Battery
The Samsung Galaxy A34 5G has a 5,000mAh battery. This is a surprisingly large battery for a mid range, and it will easily last you a full day on a single charge. The phone also supports 25W fast charging, which will quickly top up the battery when you need it. Of course, I have to buy my own fast charging adapter on Samsung website, but it’s alright, I am using one adapter for three Samsung devices at the moment, so it’s really worth it.
I have been using the phone for one month now, and I have been very impressed with the battery life. I have been able to get through a full day of use on a single charge, even with moderate to heavy usage. Most days I charge the phone 2 days once and even can use it for watching or streaming my Kdramas.
I have also been using the phone’s fast charging feature, and it is very quick. I can get the phone from 0% to 100% in about an hour plus.
Performance
The Samsung Galaxy A34 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset. This chipset is a mid-range chip, but it is more than capable of handling everyday tasks. You can easily browse the web, watch videos, and play games on this phone without any problems.
The phone also 8GB of RAM 256GB of storage available in Samsung Malaysia, for me this is plenty of RAM and storage which I hardly can use up.
In terms of benchmarks, the Samsung Galaxy A34 5G scores well for a mid-range phone. It scored 3508 in the single-core Geekbench 5 test and 1334 in the multi-core test. It also scored 505 in the AnTuTu benchmark.
In terms of real-world every day performance, the Samsung Galaxy A34 5G feels smooth and responsive. I have not experienced any lag or stuttering when using the phone. I have been able to play games Need for Speed on the phone and even casting it to my TV without feeling any lag.
Overall, I am very happy with the performance of the Samsung Galaxy A34 5G. It is a mid-range phone that performs like a high-end phone. For more info, check it out and shop online at https://www.samsung.com/my/smartphones/galaxy-a/galaxy-a34-5g-awesome-violet-256gb-sm-a346elvexme/buy/
