Following the successful campaign last year, Grab Malaysia and the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) of Malaysia are joining hands once again in raising funds to purchase a dialysis machine for the poor kidney failure patients in NKF. The collaboration between Malaysia’s first non-governmental organisation to offer haemodialysis treatment and Southeast Asia’s leading on-demand transportation and mobile payment platform will enable Grab users to convert their GrabRewards points into donation to further support NKF.

From 12 April until 30 June 2019, Grab users in Malaysia can visit their GrabRewards catalogue and convert their points into donations with the Grab app. Every 600 GrabRewards points can be converted into a RM5 donation towards NKF by Grab users.

“We would like to express our greatest gratitude to all Grab users for their support and generous contributions to our fundraising campaign last year. Even with each dialysis machine having an average service span of 8 years or an average of 35,000 running hours, treatment of for our dialysis patients has still to go on. We hope that bringing back this fundraising campaign alongside Grab will help to generate enough funding for our dialysis machine to support more End Stage Renal Failure (ESRF) patients. With that, we are especially grateful to be able to work closely with Grab once again”, said Mr. Chua Hong Wee, the CEO of NKF.

Ms. Iris Chang, the Country Marketing Head of Grab Malaysia shared “We are immensely pleased to be collaborating with the National Kidney Foundation Malaysia once again. Last year, the response was overwhelming, while there are many amongst us who wish to do charity but sometimes may be impeded by resources, Grab is humbled by the opportunity to be a conduit to encourage members of the community to join in and do our bit for the community.

Every year, NKF needs to raise RM24.9 million to subsidise the dialysis patients who are seeking for dialysis treatment at the 28 NKF dialysis centres nationwide.

Members of the public who are interested in contributing towards NKF’s cause in helping Malaysians who cannot afford access to dialysis treatment can find out more through the NKF website at http://nkf.org.my or call 03-7954 9048.
