I’m Malaysian and have lived in Malaysia my whole life. Malaysia is really beautiful and have many beautiful places to visit. If I can go on an adventure right now, here are the places I would go. I have just returned from a wonderful Bangkok Koh Samui travel and want the visitors to my country to have a really exciting experience, same as I had. Actually, these are places that I had personally been over the years so I would like to share with anyone who wants to know where to go on a Malaysian adventure. These places may not be near each other and some need you to take a flight as well.
1)Â Island Adventure in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah
Tunku Abdul Rahman Park in Kota Kinabalu are actually a few islands that you can hop from one to another. I would suggest not to go too far in light of kidnap cases. Just choose the ones nearby. A tour can be arranged at Jesselton Port and some packages even provide pickup at your hotel. Tunku Abdul Rahman Park are actually 5 islands which are Manukan Island, Sapi Island, Gaya Island, Mamutik Island & Sulug Island. The view in all the islands are picturesque, some are great for snorkeling, some are great for relaxing and sunbathing. If I go to Kota Kinabalu again, this would be the adventure on my list.
Don’t forget to visit the evening market in Kota Kinabalu town for some unique and giant seafood like these.
2) History Adventure in Malacca
Malacca is another famous city in Malaysia great for adventures of any kind but particularly a historical one. Malacca is well known as the historical city and one place that I love is the Maritime museum. This museum is so interesting because it is the replica of an actual ship.
You can imagine yourself as a pirate while recounting the history of Malacca on this ship. A place not to be missed for any adventurers.
3) Food Adventure in Penang
Whenever I do go to Penang, it is always for the food. Yes Penang food can be found in other parts of Malaysia but there is nothing like the original.
Only in Penang can you savour the very original Char Kueh Tiaw, Penang Laksa, Oyster Omelette, Lor Mee, etc etc. So many I cannot count. Remember to step foot into Penang while staying in Malaysia else you will totally miss out on what is hawker food in Malaysia.
4) Cultural Adventure in Sarawak
Kuching is home to the biggest cultural village, the Sarawak Cultural Village. It has all the different long houses in one location and many workshops are run here. In fact, the Rainforest Music Festival, the biggest cultural and musical event is held here annually.
Watch amazing world class acts here to learn about the multiculture of Malaysia not just Sarawak.
5) Shopping Adventure in Kuala Lumpur
Although there are many attractions in Kuala Lumpur, people mainly come here for shopping. KL is home to so many large shopping malls and people flock to them every day especially during holidays and weekends. You can find just about every brand name in most of the major shopping mall like this newly opened one Sunway Velocity. Be prepared to part with the cash when having a shopping adventure in Kuala Lumpur.
Malaysia has a little bit of everything. Every state in Malaysia has her unique attractions. You really have to stay here longer and come here often to find out.
