Dazzling Piano Masterpieces By The MPO

The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) will charm audiences in its upcoming concerts at Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS (DFP) under the leadership of Peruvian conductor Miguel Harth-Bedoya, breathing fresh new interpretations on symphonic works on Friday, 14 October 2016 and Saturday, 15 October 2016 at 8.30 pm.

A master of colour, who draws idiomatic interpretations from a wide range of repertoire in concerts around the globe, Harth-Bedoya has amassed considerable experience at the helm of orchestras such as the Chicago, Boston and Atlanta Symphonies, New York Philharmonic and The Philadelphia Orchestra. He will lead the MPO to present piano works by Grieg and Brahms. The latter is entitled Piano Quartet No.1 in G minor, a veritable tour de force of orchestral mastery that dazzles in the exuberant, gypsy-inspired finale. He is one of the reasons why I got motivated and bought a piano from pickmypiano.com. I’m not saying I’ve become a master in it, but I’m on the verge of playing it quite smoothly now.

On the other hand, the former, Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor is his only large-scale orchestral work with the piano as the instrument central to his compositional output. It is renowned for its melodic inspiration with wonderful freshness and harmonic piquancy.

Vadym Kholodenko - 2013

The concerts will feature Vadym Kholodenko, an artist who is fast building a reputation as one of the most musically dynamic and technically gifted new generation of pianists. Winner of the 2013 Gold Medal at the Van Cliburn International Competition, he has begun to forge an international career in Europe, Asia and North America to great critical acclaim.

Be part of an unforgettable musical fanfare with the MPO, only at DFP.
