Top 5 Things To Do When Travelling in Sunway, Malaysia

Oh! The places we'll go because of you!

If you are coming to Malaysia, then Sunway Resort City is one must visit place. There’s so many things to do within Sunway itself but let me just tell you my five favourite places and activities to do whenever I visit Sunway.

No. 1. Get wet and wild at Sunway Lagoon - My sister who lives in Kuching, Sarawak will be visiting Sunway Lagoon at the end of the year and the first thing to do for outstation travellers is to find a nearby hotel online and making a booking first before buying your Sunway Lagoon ticket. Why do I say that? This is because the theme park is pretty large and you will definitely want to play there all day till it closes and having a hotel nearby in Sunway itself will let you get back to rest in your hotel room without wasting any more time. This themepark has a dry and wet park by the way. Visit this site for all your hotel booking needs. If you’re wondering how to get to Sunway Lagoon, then do visit Malaysia’s Tourism website for more info. I’ve written quite extensively about Sunway Lagoon including the New Nickelodeon Themepark  and the new Ghostbusters Attraction that shouldn’t be missed and not to mention the amazing Wildlife park that boasts a pair of White Tigers.

No. 2. Shopping in Sunway Pyramid  with Galactic Laser, Bowling, Food and Movies. Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall is just adjacent to the Lagoon and it is a one stop mall with everything you need. There is the TGV Cinema with the latest movies and blockbusters and for the more sporty, check out Galactic Laser and even the Bowling Alley. For me, food is why we come to the mall, well besides all the other shopping needs. I love the Thai Restaurant Mr Tuk Tuk located inside Sunway Pyramid. For groceries, there is Cold Storage and Aeon and even a department store, Parksons.

No. 3. 3KM Canopy Walk  - The canopy walk is a 360m long pedestrian walkway that takes 6 minutes to cross and starts from Sunway University College East Building ending near the entrance of Sunway Pyramid Mall near Sunway Lagoon. It is also the kids’ favourite outdoor covered walk as from the top they can enjoy a scenic view of the Wildlife Park, The Surf Beach and the Wagon Wheel of Sunway Lagoon Theme Park.. Sunway advocates people to walk more thus the canopy walk was built besides being a convenience route for the students of Sunway University College. users of the walkway will experience a The Canopy Walk is open daily except during public holidays from 7am – 12 midnight and is fitted with close-circuit TV cameras along the walkway.

No. 4. Ice Skating  There are not many ice skating rings in Malaysia, and the Sunway Pyramid Ice is the first world class ice sports entertainment in Malaysia with a 39m x 22.5m rink size. I can’t skate though but I want to be able to one day, so here would be the place I would come to learn if ever.

No. 5. Mandara Spa is located at Level 5 of Sunway Resorts Hotel and for me, it is best spa service ever! If you want to unwind and relax your body after a tiring holiday, book a visit to Mandara Spa and choose from a wide range of facials and massages at the expert hands of their therapists. They also have Kahuna massage chair, that are amazing. It will be the best experience ever, plus the spa also carries the very exquisite range of Elemis products only available at Mandara Spas.

Have you heard of Traveloka? It’s a flight and  hotel booking site that I love browsing through recently and there is a Great Sale promo going on now from Aug 27 – Sept 12 (For Hotels Sept 1 – 12). I know Matta Fair is going on now in Malaysia but why take the hassle of going out, parking and queuing with crowds when everything can be booked online nowadays. I prefer to skip the crowd, get the deals! There are a variety of international routes available and a combination of domestic and international hotels.

  1. Malaysia seems like a fun place. I was planning a trip but wasn’t sure about it. How many days would be sufficient to explore the whole place? Any suggestions?

    • If it’s just Sunway Area, maybe less than a week will do but if you’re in Malaysia, you would want to travel to a few other places outside of Sunway as well so maybe 5-7 days will be the minimum.

  2. Malaysia is in my bucketlist and I’m adding Sunway in the to-visit places once I’m able to save money for the trip. I have the same question as Laveena though. How many days would be “enough” so as to be able see all tourist spots in Sunway? It seems fun and exciting.

  3. We were supposed to go to Malaysia when we went to Singapore last time but time wasn’t on our side. So the next time we’ll travel, I’ll take not of these and include them in our itinerary. It’s also great reading posts about the things to do in case you’re in some place. 🙂

  4. I’ve always wanted to try swimming at Sunway Lagoon ever since I was young. We usually just go to Genting Highlands or roam around Kuala Lumpur. Hopefully, I get to try it in my future visit along with the Canopy Walk. The other activities don’t interest me as much as it can also be done here in the Philippines. Thanks for sharing your top 5 things to do 🙂

  5. How I wish we find time to visit this. We went to Malaysia two years ago and we didn’t even know about this. Too bad. Anyway, there will always be next time. Of course, what interest me most are the Sunway Pyramid and Mandara Spa.

  6. So Sunway is a massive series of complex, if I understand correctly? I think this is the trend today in nearly all developing countries where a complex is developed and basically, it would take days to really explore everything offered. Here in the Philippines, we already have casino complexes and I think one more is being built. But I do not recall any that appears to be as massive as Sunway.

  7. A one stop of entertainment and leisure is really in demand. With how people are trying to be busy, a place where they can easily access relaxation would be great. No plans yet in going to Malaysia if I will surely check Sunway if ever I will go to.
