What is Flowboarding? Flowboarding – or flowriding, as it is also generally known – is an alternative boardsport which gained popularity in the last 20 years incorporating elements of surfing, bodyboarding, skateboarding, skimboarding and wakeboarding. Flowboarders will ride on artificial waves comprising of a three-inch layer of water pumped at high pressure. The water flows up and over surfaces engineered to replicate the shape of ocean waves. These “sheet waves”, as they are known, are stationary and do not move forward as natural waves do. Flowboarders garner their speed from the energy of the water flowing at them, rendering them the ability to perform basic to sophisticated turns and tricks within a relatively small area.

  1. Wow, I had no idea such an activity was held out here! These seems like a really fun and interesting event to attend! I wish it was in South Korea so I could be watching it now. When I lived in Southern California I used to love watching the surfers, body boarders, and skimboarders at my local beach. It’s such a fun sport to spectate and difficult to master!

  2. This is a lovely event. I love surfing too! I lived in Siargao, Philippines for a month and trained in El Salvador for three months. I am not a pro but I love how free I am whenever I am surfing. This park looks like a good place to practice!

  3. This looks like a super fun sports but quite dangerous. Im glad those parents are supportive of their kids’ wanting to pursue the sports.

    • Hey, I guess the parents of those kids really just want them to realize their full potential, that’s why they let them.. As for me though, it is kinda scary, but if my daughter or son would like to try out this type of sports, I’d definitely let them. :3 It’s also why in the long run we would definitely go out around our country to hike and check out waterfalls! 🙂

  4. Wow! I have never tried flow boarding… it scares the guts or ofof me 😋 I’m hardly balances on the skates you know; but this looks like fun…great writing!

  5. As much as I want to do water activities, my swimming capabilities should be developed first. I feel ashamed with these kids. This sure a fun event and glad to see that plenty of people are supporting it.

  6. Yeeha , that looks like great fun ! I have never heard of flowing or flow boards before to be honest , but that look great . I would love to try that myself !

  7. I didn’t know there is such a thing as flow boarding. I think it’s a nice sport for kids to learn. But kids or not, I’d love to try this myself, maybe I can better at it than I ever did with surfing.

  8. Oh wow this looks like such a fun event! Here in the Philippines I have seen one facility I think in the south of Manila but it is not really known yet. I hope it gets bigger here as well or maybe E and I can try it one of these days.
