A Beauty Date with Steven Sunny X Watsons Malaysia

Untitled
I love the Makeup Artist Steven Sunny, he always gives the best makeup tips and he just knows how to make any woman beautiful with any type of makeup he puts into his hands, plus he does everything with a big wide smile on his face. That’s why I was really excited when invited for a blogger hi-tea event by Watsons Malaysia at New Chapter by Owl’s Cafe, plus it was a good time to check out this spanking new cafe inside Calvary Convention Centre itself!

Everyone gets a special box of makeup goodies, by the way, this is the kind of box you will receive whenever buying from Watsons Online. I really love shopping online as I can take my time choosing the products I need and there are are a lot of online deals and even some special products that I won’t get if I shop in the brick and mortar store. Delivery is also really speedy, I just shopped last Saturday and received my things today, Tues.

Check out what went on during that rainy afternoon as we sip coffee and played with makeup.

Untitled
These are the collection of latest and exclusive products we get to play with that day. I decided to play with them at home to create my own look last night too, it was super fun.

Untitled
First, let’s take a before pic, showing here the before and after look. Before, I just came out of the bathroom with my hair all wet, by the time I finished the makeup, my hair also dried already, so you can imagine the amount of time I took coz I am a noob when it comes to makeup!

Untitled
Firstly, I put on the Bourjois City Radiance Foundation in 02 Vanilla shade. (NP RM54.90) They do have many shades, up to 4 I think. This foundation is special as it claims to be the 1st anti-pollution foundation that will protect the skin from all the environmental pollution like haze. I love the colour as it is not greying and it really brightens the skin. Plus it has SPF30 so I don’t need to worry about sun damage and aging. The coverage is very natural and very light so for more coverage, I can layer with the other products as below.

Untitled
Secondly, I use the Bourjois City Radiance Concealer (NP RM38.90) to cover my freckles and other spots. This one and the above foundation work hand in hand together, one for overall coverage and this one for extra cover especially around eye area, which we should not use foundation on as it will crease and crack when we smile. The formula for this is specially made for the fragile eye area so it is safe to use. I love the bottle, it came in a frosted transparent glass bottle with metal cap. It contains hyaluronic acid and hydration is not an issue. I like also the doe-foot applicator, so it goes on really creamy and easily.

Untitled
I have lots of old scars and large pores, so the more coverage the better, sigh, you girls with perfect skin will never understand. I add on coverage with Kate Powdery Mousse BB (NP RM39.00). This is really special, it looks like cream mousse in the container but upon application, it turns unto powder and adheres to the skin effortlessly, taking away the shine as well.

Untitled

Due to the powder form the skin does not feel sticky at all, it just feel matte overall without using additional setting powder. It really does cover a large amount of my pores! I apply it with a face brush in tapping motion as advised by Steven Sunny. I used 02 Natural Color, there’s only another color which is 01 Bright Color. This mousse is has SPF30++ and rather long lasting. No need to reapply throughout the day.

Untitled
Next I added some colour back to the pale skin by using Physician’s Formula Booster Glow and Mood Boosting Blush in Natural Shade (NP RM56.10). Is this the cutest design blusher ever or what? I can’t believe how beautiful it is.

Untitled
The compact case is super cute, it opens up to reveal a hidden compartment inside with a two toned brush and mirror. The colour is actually not in the face, it’s very light and I need to brush it a few times. It really is natural pink rather than those you immediately know is blusher pink. I have always wanted to try Physician’s Formula products knowing that it is organic and only using natural plant extracts without parabens.
Untitled

Finally, we move to the eyes with the Kate Forming Edge Eyeshadow, I took the blue one BU-1 (NP RM55.00) but they have so many more in brown and black shades. I am a complete noob when it comes to applying eye shadow as I always do it wrong! I had to watch the video below.

Thankfully, the Kate eyeshadow came with instructions so now I know which colour to apply where. It is very brightening and opens up my tiny eyes, it’s supposed to create the almond eyes shape.

Untitled
It is not easy for me to find a good eyeliner that doesn’t smudge so I was super happy that this one, Maybelline Hypersharp Power Black Liner (NP RM25.90) is waterproof and smudgeproof for real! The brush tip makes it easy to draw precisely and it’s easy to control too. I have oily skin, so the fact that my oily eyelids doesn’t smudge it and make me look like panda is the best news in itself.

Untitled
The final step for the eyes is mascara and I’m using Maybelline Magnum Barbie Mascara (NP RM35.90). I learned for the first time that I should not use the eye lash curler after applying the mascara from Steven! Oh my I didn’t know that, I do that all the time as I have those stubborn lashes that just won’t curl. Steven Sunny also taught as that we can use a lighter to burn the eye lash curler a little before curling the eye lashes, basically using heat to make it curl, just be careful not to burn the eye lids instead. Anyways, I just this mascara and the it is quite easy to apply with the little bit of a curled brush and the fibre in the mascara really thicken the eye lashes and make it look like it’s longer. Plus, it also doesn’t smudge that much so that is good.

Untitled
Finally I have to draw my eyebrows, which is also another thing I am not good at. Since I have thick brows I hardly do anything to it at most I use an eyebrow tint, so this would be my first time trying out a powder eyebrow palette and this one is the Kate Designing Eyebrow. I did not follow the instructions fully to achieve the popular straight eyebrow, I just filled in a little to my original eyebrow shape which is more arched. However, do check out the video on how to mix the colours and create the perfect eyebrow shape and colour with this palette. I learned from Steven Sunny that I could use the lightest shade to naturally share the nose bridge, now that is something new for me and totally cool.

Untitled

The final step in this makeup process is to colour the lips and I just love lip tint as I will not fade much throughout the whole day. I got the Peripera Ink Moist #5.(NP RM36.90) It is very pigmented and vivid, just a little goes a long way. The colour really lasts maybe 8 hours or more and slowly fades to look like gradation. I only apply it to the inner lips and smudge it out. It is basically like a lip tattoo.

Untitled
So there you go, how I create this final simple everyday look, though in truth I wear a lot less makeup on a daily basis.

Untitled
Like that day at the event, I hope I didn’t shock people with my makeup less look and messed up hair as I had to travel by train in the hot sun to the venue and everything just faded. I would have been a different story if I was using all the above products mentioned here which would have lasted through the storm.

  1. This is why I love makeup, girls will look refreshing with makeups on. I really love the lips product from Peripera, they are very pigmented and long lasting.

  2. Nice tips for makeup! I will follow your photos and get some clues for my makeup too. Watsons is my fav store when it comes to buying makeup.

  3. Just a little bit of makeup can make someone look so different! I’m not much of a makeup person but wouldn’t mind playing with these if there’s an event to go to
