A Perfect Cake for A Happy 7 year old

Recently, Josiah turned 7! It was quite a major milestone in his life, having now gone to primary school and all. I didn’t get a custom made cake for Josiah for the last few years, but this year we decided to get one. Josiah loves all kinds of cartoon characters and one of them is Mickey Mouse, a major love for Jordan too, and both of them love Chocolate cakes so that was what we got.

This beautiful fondant cake was kindly sponsored by Catherine Cakery . It was easy to order the cake, I just had to email or pm her and tell her what I needed, and on the day of collection, I went to Mid Valley Megakidz playground to meet her as she is running the cafe inside the playground. Of course, she does delivery within Klang Valley too for a certain fee depending on the location.

Catherine said this is considered a simple cake for her, she can make them in any sizes and patterns, I had seen her cake with towers and all. She believes all her cakes must be made with love and passion, so she personally made all cakes herself. Her cake biz all started with a love for making cakes and seeing her customers happy, so she started out just self learning and even learn from youtube videos.

Josiah was so surprised when we brought out the cake and judging from his smile, he was really happy too. We didn’t even have a party for him this year as it was the day before we needed to go back to Sarawak so everything was rather rushed. However, dear Josiah was still happy just celebrating with us as a family.

Jordan was even more excited to cut the cake together, actually he also blew the candle with Josiah but he insisted that would blow his own birthday cake candle alone later on. Thankfully Josiah didn’t mind as he loved his brother that much.

Usually, when having a fondant cake I don’t think too much about the taste, but this cake actually tasted really good. It was a rich thick chocolate cake rather like brownies and not like sponge cake. The kids loved it, that’s the most important.
