Christmas Party at Hubba Hubba Mont Kiara

When you talk about partying with good food and drinks, nobody does it better than Hubba Hubba Mont Kiara.

Last Christmas, Sidney brought us to dine and party there and it was a most awesome experience for me.

Those who booked their Christmas set even had a beautiful table set up…so envy.

After playing some charades with the iPad with the hosts, we started our meal with a salad with a side of Penne Rigate pasta. I loved the mixture of unconventional salad vege, like eggplants and chilli and sprouts that tasted great together, crunchy and soft combo.

As a starter of snacks as known here, we also had Hubba Popcorn Chicken (RM16), and this dish is so popular with us, that one was just not enough. This Japanese Style boneless fried chicken was so nice to pop into the mouth with the sauce, really opening up the appetite.

The Chicken Wings is also a snack here.

After this, the food kept coming non stop. Hubba Hubba really knows how to feed us well. This is the Seafood Aglio Olio (RM28) with prawns, squid, mussels, anchovies, garlic and olive oil. This is a little spicy so if you love the excitement that tingles your tastebuds, this is a great way to start the night.

DSC01755
I love the Soft Shell Crab Spaghetti (RM25), basically Aglio Olio cookied in Thai Style. I just love the crunchiness of the crab, it goes so well with the sourish taste of the sauce.

DSC01726
Hubba Hubba’s pizzas are so visually appealing! They are in pink! I love that the crust is super thin too. This is the Full Monty (RM25) and this cheese laden pizza contains tomato, sausage (natural hog casings from DCW Casing removed), meatballs, beef bacon and mozzarella.

DSC01732
For vegetarians or cheese lovers, you can choose the Four Cheese pizza (RM25), it only contains Mozzarella, Feta, Goat Cheese, Fontina and Basil and Tomato. I really really love both the pizzas, coz I always love thin crusted pizzas and they are so generous with the cheese, cheese just makes me go crazy.

DSC01748
Meanwhile, a band was playing some Christmas tunes, they were so good. Hubba has great taste in music and they are always inviting some special bands to come and sing LIVE to entertain the diners.

DSC01752
We moved on to the mains, and initially I was surprised to see Nasi Lemak on the menu (RM18). Fanny, our host explained that sometimes their customers consists of expats that are looking for some local food to enjoy and not always just the western variety. I think it is so interesting, they also have stuffs like Char Kueh Tiaw, Curry Laksa, Fried Rice etc on the menu. The Nasi Lemak is exceptionally good, the santan so fragrant and the anchovies so crispy. The Chicken Rendang was super good, we all shared and had a great Malaysian time tasting this.

DSC01766
This is Chicken Wala Wala (RM22), a boneless chicken stewed in Indian Makhani Rice Onion Gravy, served with Raita and Pulao Rice. This is another fragrant rice dish that can satisfy any carb loaders.

DSC01763
Chicken is great but fish is my all time fav. That is why the Pommery Salmon (RM28) really spoke to me. This pommery glazed salmon is served with garlic potato mashed and asparagus. The skin of the fillet is really crispy just the way I like it and really sweet too. I could eat this whole dish by myself.

DSC01768
Nearing the end I promise, we had Hainanese Chicken Chop (RM24). It is a fried chicken leg covered in sweet and sour sauce served with sweet potato fries and salad. I really love the sweet potato fries compared to the usual white potato fries. The chicken chop is also well cooked and crunchy on the skin and juicy inside. This is less watery than the usual Hainanese Chicken Chop I had elsewhere, which I actually prefer as then the skin is not easily softened.

DSC01771
I really really looked forward to this dish, the Lamb Shank Pie (RM32). The lamb pieces are inside the bowl while the pie is just covering the whole bowl. The lamb is gently braised with rosemary, carrot and red wine. This would have been perfect had the sauce not been that salty. This need to be eaten for rice, but that beats the purpose of the pie right? Nevertheless, the lamb is smooth and soft which is great, it is said this dish would take 20 min wait time to cook.

DSC01784
Still not finished yet, I told you we were served generously..out came the Jerk Out Chicken (RM24), a pan baked jerk marinated chicken, served with mashed potatos and greens. Loved the sauciness and the chicken is really well marinated to the bones.

DSC01788
This is one amazing Sirloin Steak (RM48) very hearty and big portioned, and it is done medium according to our choice. The steak is served with black pepper sauce, grilled asparagus and mashed potato. If I was not that full by that time, I think I would eat a lot more of this.

DSC01794
With a little bit of tummy space left, we went for the Lamb Rack (RM48) which was of no regrets. This is a grilled seven spice lamb rack, served with garlic potato mash, pea sprouts and rosemary sauce. I really adore lamb meat so this is quite on the top of my love dishes. The meat is lovely and soft and not overly cooked.

Hubba Hubba’s Motto is to Eat to Live and Drink to Life. I had to try some of their special drinks. I think I could have drank a little too much that night, but no worries I was fine.

Mango Lychee mojito is super cooling, sweet and nice for a hot day like this in Malaysia. Just so you know, the contents are rum, spicy mango syrup, mango juice, lychee puree, lychee fruit, lime wedges, and mint leaves. Mojito is like my fav drink, I like mint leaves I guess. All mojito are at RM25 each. They also have the Asam Boi one which is highly loved by many.

DSC01713

This was a Blue Lagoon (RM32) tall cocktail. The drink is basically made with Blue Curaçao Liqueur, Vodka, Lemon and Lemonade. I like it blue.

DSC01786

Finally I had the Espresso Martini (RM25) since Elana said Martinis are great, and I love coffee so why not make it a coffee one. This contains vodka, hazelnut liqueur, irish cream liqueur, and espresso.

We also had a birthday surprise for Sidney again, it was so nice of Hubba Hubba for preparing this amazing tray of sweet cakes!

So special, the band sang for him. Hubba Hubba really knew how to make their diners feel special.

We also had gift exchange! It was a fun night of dining, drinking and a great bonding time with my new friends.
