Ed Alonzo’s Psycho Circus of Magic and Mayhem in Genting International Showroom

I had watched Ed Alonzo on so many TV Shows before I watched him LIVE! I saw him on How I Met Your Mother, The Ellen Degeneres show, E true Hollywood Story, Americas Next Top Model, Modern Family, etc. He is not just magical, he’s actually really really funny. There is really no real Mayhem in the show, in fact it is just full of comedy and awe.

Ed Alonzo is helped his by beautiful assistants, appearing magically on stage from a makeshift train. They danced to fast music while building the props on stage, probably quickly stealing your focus away from what’s really going on.

Ed Alonzo made his appearance in typical magician tux, but looking far from typical in his Groucho Marx eyebrows, Harold Lloyd Glasses, and his recognizable signature explosive hairstyle, full of expression and funny antics right from the start. You would want to laugh just seeing him, but do not be distracted, as this man is about to create some fast paced at times dangerous stunts on the stage here in the International Showroom Genting for an 80 minutes show, together with some guest stars that would leave us gripping our seats as we didn’t know what a ride we were in. The magic cum circus like show runs daily from 7th November to 13th March 2016 at 8pm with some matinee shows on selected dates.

We were left with no time to think after his magical appearance from a box, and immediately he was running in the audience looking for his victim. He found a guy whom he brought on stage and using his signature magic of making people transfer places, he was able to make the guy and his assistant change places with some cling wrap. You got to watch it to know how. I always wondered if magicians make volunteers on stage lose their memory after the show.

Audience should be left in anticipation as Ed was really interactive, he did many tricks that involved direct questions and answers with audience members.

You would probably also love that pretty girls would pop up of nowhere, be it tiny cages or boxes.

I thought this was terribly funny when one of the girls suddenly changed into Ed Alonzo in split seconds, and he was still wearing a skirt.

To make things even more interesting, there were actually a couple of guest performers. The first one being a performer from Australia, Aerial Manx or James Loughron, an sword swallower who holds multiple world records at his tender age. This guy is super impressive, he has great control over how his body moves having practiced martial arts from 4 years old, but above that, he is able to control how the inside of his body moves by swallowing real swords, and if that is not enough, he can do back flips with the sword down his throat. Mind you, this is not just an illusion, it is for real.

Aerial Manx holds the Guiness World Records for the most number of backflips (as if that is not hard enough to do for a normal human) while having the sword down his throat, and the total number is 20. At Genting, he showed us some of that and they left us wondering how he could risk his life doing this amazing stunt. Worry not for he is a real professional, having started swallowing swords since he was 17 and mastered it in 3 years. This guy travels the world over performing these amazing dangerous feats, so I think while he is now in Malaysia, we really shouldn’t miss this show.

The next international performer hails from Japan named Toru Sato San. This is a man of fire, literally. He dances while swinging sticks of fire dangerously above his head and everywhere,

The show was a beauty to behold as all lights were turned off and our focus was purely on the fire as it sizzles and cracks, flowing and synchronizing with the strong music effects. For a moment there, I sat bedazzled and lost in the flames, forgetting where I was but just fully concentrating on the skilled movements

Ed Alonzo made several more appearances. and my favourite trick involves the appearance of a duck in a bucket, one he famously did, and how he changed the duck into a dog and from there created many more beautiful girls from a cage. I must add, he did not fail to impress and astound, as he left the audience cheering for more.

Not wanting to give you spoilers, I am leaving the best of the show a secret so you must go and watch it and tell me what was your favourite part! It was indeed a fun-filled family magic circus show that combines magic and unique world-class circus acts that lasts the test of time– this act had successfully toured the US and having been shown on the Royal Carribean’s Quantum of the Seas.
