There’s a daily Christmas Concert going on in the coldest part of Malaysia, Genting Highlands and everyone is invited. Race Against Time with Alvin and The Chipmunks – The Road Chip, the new movie that will premiere on Christmas eve, 24 Dec 2015. Meanwhile, the whole family can enjoy a great time meeting and greeting Alvin and gang including special guest Britanny, every day except Mondays at the Times Square Stage.
There are three shows daily at 12pm, 5.30pm and 7pm. The shows are short and entertaining as they only half and hour. The half show is filled with lots of singing and dancing, stories and interaction with the audience. Dave will actually teach you how to move along with Britanny and the songs. The chipmunks are always up to date with their song list, as they will cover not just Christmas tunes but also some top of the charts pop songs. Believe me when i say, they seriously can dance even in the big chunky costume.
True to his nature, Alvin kept getting into trouble even while performing. You must watch it to find out what kind of mischief he got into this time. The children watched in anticipation and there was not a moment of restlessness.
The show is open to all and free for all to watch, but if you want to get a special 6R photo taken with the chipmunks like I did and have it printed and displayed in a special limited edition frame, just buy a ticket at RM48 at the booth and bring back a piece of precious memory. With the ticket pass, you also get a VIP seating, rather than standing for the whole half hour in the crowd. We were so blessed to sit in the front row right in the centre and watched the whole show comfortably. It was even a good time for resting for the parents right?
Sneak Preview of the concert
The grand finale was a medley of latest hits with all the characters and dancers together. It was really entertaining for me, I’m sure little ones especially fans of the Chipmunks would be so excited to watch this.
While I was there, I noticed some families took the Family Adventure Package & Tea Party (Weekend Only). Everytime we go to Genting, we definitely prefer to stay overnight and enjoy the night walks. This package, titled Family Adventure, available at RM175 nett during weekdays and RM290 nett during weekends, comes with a triple XYZ Deluxe room for two adults and two children and includes a special Christmas Tea Party at the Coffee Terrace available on 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 26 and 27 December from 3.00pm to 4.30pm exclusively for a family of four namely two adults and two children, one free photo printing, live show at the Time Square, First World Plaza and a 20% discount for VIP tickets to the resident show, ED Alonzo Psycho Circus of Magic & Mayhem or Rafael presents: The Magical Mystery Show. What a great deal right?
While waiting for the show to start, there are lots of fun things to do at the Alvin and the Chipmunks Race Against Time set up. You can even win a trip to Australia by joining the games. For us, we just took some photos here as everything looked so Christmassy and charming. Admission to the event is opened to all First World Indoor Wristband customers, SnowWorld customers, Genting Rewards members or redeem at any iKiosks with 500RP.
There were lots of Trick art decoration for photography at the First World Hotel Rainforest. The area is really cool, covering at least 800 metres in length with about 8 different themes. I was really impressed with the upside down living room.
We had the most amazing time in Genting Highlands, thanks also to Wei En, Genting’s PR Exec for the warmth and hospitality. Watch out for more updates on our Christmas Food Review at Flavours Cafe, Awana Hotel and Bubbles & Bites, Maxim Hotel as well as the magical show with Ed Alonzo’s Psycho Circus of Magic & Mayhem!
