Let’s Pamper Ourselves at Mandara Spa Sunway!

With such a hectic lifestyle, sometimes all our body really need is a tender touch with skillful strokes that reaches deeply to remove the pain and aches and restore our skin to its original state. What is a better and more pampering way to do that than to visit Mandara Spa in Sunway Resorts Hotel. Having gone there twice, I highly recommend this Spa located at Level 5 of Sunways Resorts Hotel and Spa, nestled deep in the ‘jungle’ setting with greenery all surrounding it. Level 5 is where the villas are located and it is a beautiful and serene environment that has the ability to transport oneself from the bustling city into the peace and tranquility of Mother Nature.

The way to get there is to take a short walk of about 5-10 minutes from the lobby lift to Level 5, walk out past the poolside on the right, walk alone the paths while being directed a pair of Balinese umbrellas in red and yellow, go through a small gate and continue the walk until the end of the road where you will come upon a cottage like structure, that is the Mandara Spa.

Immediately upon arrival, I was treated like a VIP, served with their signature chilled ginger tea and a cold tower to cool myself down from that long walk. It was a good walk nevertheless to start the heart pumping. Having wiped away any traces of sweat, I was then led to their suites for my Frangipani Body Glow Treatment that would last a blissful 2 hours. This treatment uses the special Elemis Exotic Lime & Ginger Salt Glow to exfoliate the body while massaging away any dryness, and followed Elemis Exotic Frangipani Monoi Oil to treat the skin and make it glow.

The room I used is named Cananga. Another room is called Frangipani. All the rooms are large and the one I was using comes with an attached bathroom too since I was doing the scrub.

On a sofa inside the room, there is a sarong that I should change into. There is a box to store any jewellery and my watch.

A large wardrobe sits in the room to let me store my handbag and hang my clothes. A bathrobe is given too but I didn’t get to use it.

This is the massage bed, everything looks clean from all the linen to the towels used. The whole smelt fragrant as they had aromatherapy oil burning and the room is basically in the theme of natural brown wooden look, giving you an overall back to nature calmness. In some rooms, there may even be a large window overlooking the serene trees.

So I laid face down and the bed and the massage started with a warm scrub and it was so calming and relaxing and I literally could feel the dead skin being lifted away. The therapist was really skillful to apply the right amount of tension and force to the right places so that I felt calmer and no pain at all. Every part of my body was scrubbed thoroughly even including the bottom of the feet and fingers. After the back was scrubbed, it was then the front. I love the privacy given at Mandara Spa. For those that are shy, let it be known that the therapist will always respect your privacy by holding the towel high to cover you when she asks you to turn to face up. After the scrub, I was led to the shower room to wash it off before the next phase of massage and moisturising. The attached bathroom had a rain shower so it was so soothing to even shower there. The therapist waited the whole time while I was showering. I should say it way a new experience for me, as all I did before were Facials.

After the shower, I saw on the bed a large piece of what looked like an aluminium foil, but yet it was soft like plastic. I was asked to lay in it and the massage started with warm oil that was oh so soothing, seriously. The oil was practically drizzled on me and the scent would just lift my spirit. I was then wrapped up in that aluminium foil like a cocoon for deep hydration of the skin, so I thought this was the time the therapist would ask me to relax or sleep and she would leave. I was really surprised that throughout the 2 hours experience, she would stay by my side and the treatment never once stop. She proceeded to do a scalp massage and even a face massage. It was indeed a head to toe kind of treatmemt that is worth every cent. She was firm yet gentle, it is hard to explain without one experiencing it themselves. I didn’t doze off this time but I was definitely in a state of floating in the air. After the scalp massage and mini facial, the treatment then ended with a Balinese massage. I never felt any boredom throughout the 2 hours, it was just one treatment layering another that got better and better.

I went back to the reception and was served warm ginger tea this time. The tea was so welcomed after a nice treatment like this, as now not only my skin is glowing and smooth, but even my inside is warmed up by the ginger tea.

Mandara Spa is having a major Christmas promotion for their Elemis gift sets which all come with a gift box. There are anti-aging gift sets, to skincare sets to body spa sets like the Elemis Forever Frangipani gift set worth RM450 but now available at only RM247.

I took the set home to recreate my own home spa later. The oil is the same one used in my massage earlier.

If you had been carrying a burden and feeling tired throughout this year, maybe this is a great time to visit Mandara Spa in Sunway Resorts and not only feel great after their treatments, but look amazing as well.
