Are you the type that love to snap pics of your food before you dive in? Don’t lie, I know what you did at lunch just now. Guess what, for all the foodie out there, Opensnap is here to save you. I’d say Opensnap is a lot like Instagram, but it’s all about food, and there are many great features to help you file your food pics for sharing and at the same time, discover new food and new restaurants from the app on those days you kept asking your friends, hey what are we having for lunch huh?
Some of the great features using this app, is you can add FRIENDS! What is good food without great friends. We are always listening to our friends about what is the next great place to eat, it’s just the same using this app. You can follow people, add friends, and they too can follow you back. Whenever they update their pics on their accounts, you can see where they ate and what they think of the food from the rating. If you like what they are eating, you too can go and find that restaurant and order the same dish.
Which brings me to the bookmark feature. After you find a few restaurants, you might not be visiting them immediately. So you can bookmark them in the app for your easy reference later. I have bookmarked this restaurant after finding Sarawak Kolomee there. I know Penang people will maybe just search for penang dishes, but I am Sarawakian so I am always looking for Sarawak food in the Klang Valley!
By the way, Opensnap by Openrice is used Asia Wide! You can search the restaurants all the way to China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and even India, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore and how can you forget Thailand? However, since I am located in Klang Valley, I can set my location, customise it to just Klang Valley unless of coz if I was going to travel. Then I can change my location if I would be eating out in Singapore for example.
The Map View Function is embedded in the app too, Super important this one. How can you find the restaurant you are dying to go to if you can’t see it on the map? Super important ok?
The very important last feature I want to talk about is the photos. You can view food photos from across Malaysia, anything you like, just use the search. IF you want to see the latest uploaded pics, then just click and you will find, all the food pics taken by people like you and me, not those over glossified professional types. You can see the food served as it is. However, what I love most is that I can search a specific type of food and find out where it is served immediately!
For example, I searched Sarawak, not any western dishes, I only want to find Sarawak food. And Bingo! I realise that Sarawak food is everywhere in the Klang Valley, not just the few places I know like 7th Mile Restaurant or Pavilion KL Food court or Bangsar Kolomee and Laksa or my favourite Pandan Indah 2020…hey it is actually also in Sri Petaling and many many many many more places I saw on the app! A whirlwind just flew over my head. Tell me, tell me, is there another app that can help me do this? This is so precious, precious information ok?

Is there any difference between using Opensnap and Openrice app? I know Opensnap looks convenient but if we have Openrice, does both apps function the same?
