“Shape a Colorful Community” for The Malaysia Book of Records with PLAY-DOH®

Yes! We were once again part of a historical event, to make the most number of PLAY-DOH® sculptures in a day to get into The Malaysia Book of Records.

The event held in Highstreet 1 Utama was a great success as parents and shoppers throng the place to become a kid again together with their children, making PLAY-DOH® sculptures that depict Malaysia for us. I was really amazed by the talent shown and the creativity, read on to see the many amazing PLAY-DOH® sculptures I saw that day. Did you know that actually, PLAY-DOH® had been a household ‘toy’ for families in the last 5 decade? I definitely remember playing with it when I was young.

Before we started on our challenge to make the sculptures, we sent Josiah and Jordan to the PLAY-DOH® School to make ice cream and cookies with the PLAY-DOH® Cupcake Celebration Playset and Swirl and Scoop Ice Cream at the Sweet Shoppe! It was really fun, the teacher taught them in a most creative manner how to create amazing delicious ice cream! Jordan was so proud that he could actually create something because at home, he usually just mashes up the PLAY-DOH®.

The boys even get to take a instant pic with their creations, you can see how proud they are.

All the kids that attend the classes get a certificate too. This is like the real deal PLAY-DOH® class ya.

Finally, after the class, we got to doing our actual Malaysia Book of Records Sculpture. It was really fun as we crack our heads together to think of what Malaysia mean to us and to think of anything related to our culture and our nation. Since I live in Kajang now, I decided to make Satay, and John made Ketupat, while Josiah made his favourite noodle dish which ended up looking like Laksa or Prawn Noodles, while Jordan decided to make Burgers that he always order from the neighbourhood burger stall.

Jordan’s burger, oh well, didn’t matter that it didn’t look great, what mattered was that he learned something and had great fun making it. I was really surprised that he didn’t run around that day but really focused making his artwork together with us.

All our sculptures were fantastically displayed on this tiered shelf for all shoppers to marvel at. I myself was so amazed by some of the amazing sculptures that were so creatively made!

The winners for the Most Outstanding Play-Doh sculptures created at the event were also announced on Saturday and they are 7-year-old Aina Qistina (basket of local fruits) and a 36-year-old Dad, Alvin Teoh (Doh Doh sculpture).

Check out the winning sculpture of Doh-Doh the mascot and those beautiful flowers, I was sure these people are professional PLAY-DOH® makers! Some people made endangered animals like the turtle, some made famous landmarks, most loved foods and fruits and even costumes and cultural icons. It was definitely a fun-filled day for all while getting PLAY-DOH® under our nails, but the smiles from the kids and adults alike easily washed that away.
