Recently, Dutch Lady has launched its newly improved growing up milk powder for children. I was there to attend the Smart Milestones Consumer Event on 18 April 2015 at Sunway Convention Centre with family. The event feature a amazing walk through experience to help us understand what are the milestones that children go through as they grow.

1) Curious Stage (Vision development) – Playing bubbles, creating shadows, making music (1 – 2 years)

The first station was where the children get to play and pop bubbles. This is the Curious Stage when my children just want to grasp and hold the bubbles as it fly around. They have fun climbing around and chasing it and trying to catch and pop it.

The second activity is where they get to make some animal sounds while listening to the instructions on the TV to match the correct animal to the sound.  Jordan also get to see a little girl appear on the TV and he started searching around for the real person that could not be found. It was interesting to see him learn and realise that she was an augmented reality.

The third activity is shadow play and they get to create shadows and had fun with it on the blue board with the help of the little girl again. This time, Jordan had learned that she was virtual and was not that surprised to see her already.

We even get to take a family pic with the little girl, very interesting right?

Dutch Lady Curiousâ„¢ 1 – 2 Years Old milk is specially formulated with the right nutrition to support curiosity in children between ages of 1-2 who are eager to find out more about the world. It contains DHA, Inositol, Vitamin A, Taurine, and Vitamin D for eye and brain function as this is the age that children want to find out how things work, imitate others’ actions and be very interested to locate hidden objects, like how Jordan tried to look for the little girl. That shows how important vision is at this milestone, as they would need good vision to search for things, to find and catch the bubbles, to see the difference of the graphics on the TV compared to real life.

2) Explore Stage (natural body resistance) – Outdoor activities

At the Explore Stage, we felt like we went outdoors into a beautiful park, or actually the park was brought into the Convention Hall.

Jordan was being shown how to pluck and drink the honey from the stem of the flower.

There was even a man made pond in the middle with sand, stones, water and dragonflies. Josiah and Jordan was free to explore the beautiful nature and life surrounding them.

Jordan and Josiah picked and counted the lady bugs, of course they are just toys.

At this milestone when children are 2-4 years old, they love to go outdoors and explore their surroundings. To do that, they do need to have a natural body resistance. Strong immunity to bacteria and dirt is so important to have for children at this stage.

That’s where Dutch Lady Exploreâ„¢ 2 – 4 Years Old come in for their nutrition that caters to active children that is starting to explore everything. The formulation at this stage contains DHA, Magnesium, Selenium, Vitamin D and Zinc that supports immunity and brain function. From age 2 – 4, your child will:
Solve simple puzzles, Recognise and point to familiar surroundings & objects, & Be able to match shapes and objects.

3) Create Stage (creativity) – drawing, playing with sand, create building/items with boxes

This has got to be the most fun milestone for children 4-6 year olds.

Next they get to play with kinetic sand and build shapes and things wtih it. Jordan even get to play sand together with Dutch Lady Ambassador Mia Sara. The children spent a long time here as it was the most fun to play with the texture and imagine that they were really at the beach.

The children also get to paint on the wall without guidance and we could really see how creative kids at this age were. We just had the experience of how children 4-6 years old learn through creativitiy and imagination. Dutch Lady Createâ„¢ 4 – 6 Years Old contained DHA, Magnesium, Choline, Tyrosine and Vitamin D to aid attention and brain function. From age 4 – 6, your child will: Make up new endings to familiar stories, Build things by following simple steps & Imagine new games and play pretend.

4) Learn Stage (focus & memory) – spot the difference, milk magic and simple mathematics

18 April 2015 Sunway pyramid convention centre

This stage is really for 6+ years old so at this time, Jordan decided to move on to play other things by himself.

18 April 2015 Sunway pyramid convention centre

Josiah started by playing the Spot The Difference Game and managed to find all the clues, in fact he played twice.

18 April 2015 Sunway pyramid convention centre

Then he played the Milk Magic Experiment using Dutch Lady Milk and paint poured in to make patterns. He was so amazed and how the swirls move and patterns were created magically.

Josiah then spent the most time here solving simple and complicated Maths questions using the magnetic numbers on the board. I could see he enjoyed it a lot and felt the satisfaction when he could actually get the right answer.

Dutch Lady Learnâ„¢ 6+ Years Old has the Nutrition for children 6 years and above, where focus and good memory skills are important for learning. The Key Nutrients are DHA, Vitamin B2 & B12, Magnesium, Casein and Vitamin D to help with memory and brain function. From age 6+, your child will: Remember information and apply it in new situations, Enjoy board games & Engage in problem solving activities.

So now you can see how children at different age groups and milestones in their growth really need different kinds of nutrition catered to the different types of learning stages.
