You Have The Power To Do Good

Key Visual - Power of Doing Good

Have you ever done a random act of kindness? If you have, you’d know how amazing that feels, and how true is the quote it is more blessed to give than to receive. If you haven’t, then this is a good time to try it, with your kids! What is a better age to learn how to do good than at an innocent young age of 2-7 years old? Children naturally loves to do good and they have such great faith in everything they do. Mostly, they are never too young to learn something new, what more something good.

Disney Junior has recently launched a new website, hwww.disneyjuniorpowerofdoinggood.com. This is a great ‘Pirate and Princess: Power of Doing Good’ campaign to teach our little ones values of caring for nature, animals and helping others. As parents, it is not easy to just think up ideas of how to impart these values to our kids, so in comes Disney Junior’s amazing website with printable sheets and step by step guides and even awards in the forms of badges for the little ones that will truly motivate them to move on in the journey of doing good.

Jake The Neverland Pirate and Sofia The Princess are just the right characters to represent this campaign. If you ever watched these cartoons with your little ones, you’d know that the theme is always on helping others even when the ones being helped are not worth helping, but the lesson from every episode is that the ‘bad people’ will always turn around due to the kindness shown them by Jake and his friends or Princess Sofia.

“Through the power of our stories and characters we not only inspire kids to imagine a better world but also help them to realize, through simple acts of caring for their surroundings and their community, that they have the potential to make a positive change in the world they live in. The Power of Doing Good campaign on Disney Junior empowers kids and families with information and opportunities to engage with their friends, families and communities to make a positive impact on the world around them. We are grateful to our partners WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature), SPCA Singapore and Selangor, and Singapore Environment Council for their support,” said Natasha Malhotra, General Manager, Branded Media and Content, The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia.

“WWF is happy to support Disney Junior’s Power of Doing Good campaign. Children need to learn from a young age to be aware and care for the environment, the animals and society. This will go a long way in growing a generation who takes responsibility in shaping a healthy planet,” said Elaine Tan, CEO, WWF Singapore.

HOW: Parents will need to download fun activity sheets from the website –
www.disneyjuniorpowerofdoinggood.com. Activities are themed around four key areas – Community, Animals, Nature and Storytelling. Online badges and certificates are simple rewards to encourage kids to complete all activity sheets and learn the ethos of doing good. In addition, there will be opportunities for kids and families to create “power promises” online- a simple promise to do something good for the world they live in.
