iPad App Review: Little Critter Shapes

I was very excited to get Little Critter Shapes because finally there’s an app for my 2 year old from Oceanhouse media. Jordan is now 27 months and he is pretty into shape sorting and reading from books. He still talks a lot of baby talk, but at least he tries. I thought this app is mighty suitable to teach him more about shapes in a fun way.

This app teaches young children (ages 2-5) shapes through colorful, animated illustrations and easy-to-read pages. Little Critter makes it fun and easy for toddlers to learn their shapes with colorful images of a shooting star, an oval train track, a crescent moon, and so much more! Available on the app store tomorrow for the introductory price of just $0.99 (regular price $1.99).

There will be the shape on top of the page and a real life shape like above so that my toddler can identify shapes with real objects. He’s already doing that with everything he sees around the house, which is fun. I also like that the book is ‘short’. Jordan is such an active kid he is not used to sitting down to reading anything for a long time, although he asks for the iPad daily. He called ‘be-i-pad’ for some reason. Maybe he is trying to say Mini iPad.

Little Critter’s narrator has a very cute kiddy voice already, but if you prefer to read the app to your child in your own voice, you can do so with this app. Just record as you go. Seeing the book is short, it should take a short time ya, time, something us parents seldom have enough of.

Disclaimer: I was not paid for this review. However, I did receive the product for free to assist in my reviews. The opinions in this blog post are 100% mine
