Dr Seuss is having his birthday next week, 2 March. So what better way to celebrate the awesome children’s book author than to review a bunch of his ebook apps. Happy Birthday to You is one very fun story, and in fact I had been reading the physical book with my son, Josiah for the whole of last week.

Summary:
“I wish we could do what they do in Katroo.
They sure know how to say ‘Happy Birthday to You!’”

Guided by the most beautifully brained Birthday Bird of Katroo, this story takes EACH reader on a marvelous adventure celebrating their Day of all Days! The Birthday Bird reminds children that being born and just being YOU is all that is required to deserve such celebrity treatment. Celebrating their birthday in the land of Katroo, readers learn that a birthday is a celebration of the wonder of you! “Today you are you! That is truer than true! There is no one alive who is you-er than you!” Full of imaginative illustrations and a positive message, this book is perfect to read to a child on their special day.

Recommended ages: 3 – 12

He loved the story and the illustrations so much particularly the part of the Mustard-Off Pools.

Dr Seuss happy birthday to you

Josiah is crazy about water fountains so he kept asking me if this is a water fountain. I tried telling him it’s a Mustard-Off Pool but he would stare and stare at the illustration and tell me it could be a water fountain since there are nozzles and water splashing out of it. I can’t help but wish that I live in Katroo as well after reading this book with Josiah. The Birthday Bird is indeed brainy and plans out the most fun birthday for the birthday child. This book is so apt in these few months as we have 3 birthdays going on in January, February and March.

There’s always a positive message hidden in Dr Seuss stories, and with this one, the repeated sentence used is: Today you are you! I love this, a story that tells my little one that he is who he is. He doesn’t need to try to be someone he is not. Is your little one having a birthday soon? Why not get this book and read it together.
