Hermie a Common Caterpillar by Max Lucado

I guess as a mum, I love to watch out for great children’s books for my 3 year old, and this one is precious. This is my son’s 2nd Hermie book, and he now loves this little caterpillar. Hermie A Common Caterpillar tells the simple story of Hermie and his fellow caterpillar friend Wormie. As they wander amongst the forest, they came upon many other insects, such as the butterfly, the snail, the ant and the lady bug, and everytime Hermie and Wormie will be awed by the other insect’s strength, beauty and uniqueness, and they will start questioning God about their own commonness. God always answered them the same way, that He is not finished with them yet. The story ended beautifully, with Hermie turning into a beautiful butterfly and finally understanding what God meant.

This simple story is not just character building for kids, but even for the parents that read it together with their kids. Most of the time, it’s us adults who question God about our abilities, our looks, our commonness, and the story of Hermie really reminded me that I too don’t have to worry about all that, coz God is still moulding me to become the best in His eyes, He ain’t finished with me yet.
