I’m now at 10 weeks plus and last week, in the early morning, I had this sudden abdominal pain. It was very low at my right side and last a few seconds each time. I think it happened about 4 times and then it was gone. Naturally, my instinct told me there was something wrong, so the next day I visited my OBGYN to get a scan done since the government clinic does not provide scans. So, I was then diagnosed with subchorionic hematoma. It was the first time I heard of this condition.
What is it?
SCH or Subchorionic Hematoma is a gathering of blood between the membranes of the placenta and the uterus. A more technical name is the chorion. Some doctors will also just refer to it as a blood clot.
The first thing I asked the doc was what causes this as my mind was racing about things I shouldn’t have eaten or done. My doc only said, nobody knows the cause. He then prescribed me Duphaston that is used to strengthen the womb. I had to take that for 2 weeks and go back end of this week to check again. So now I’m only working half days so that I get more bedrest. It does help with the fatigue and nausea.
Somehow this pregnancy, I am facing all kinds of symptoms I never had the first time round, nausea, vomiting, cravings, got it all. So far I’ve vomited twice at work and have nausea most mornings. I can only eat what I feel like eating and when I think of foods that I don’t feel like eating, it makes me wanna purge. This is all new to me, coz with Josiah, it was all peaceful. Couple with the fact that I can’t sleep as peacefully at nights like last time with a toddler around.
So at this moment, I can only pray that by the next checkup everything will be fine and normal again.
