A Day Out to Port Dickson

Have you ever wanted to do something without making plans? That’s exactly what we did. During the Haji hols, we made an impromptu decision to go Port Dickson, Klang Valley’s nearest beach with many resorts. The last time I went there was sooo many years ago, when I remembered the sea was teh tarik colour and sand was black. Until I read this blog that talked about their holiday there and showed how white and clean the sand was.

So we started out early, by going Tesco at 8am! I really wanted to get some sand toys for Josiah, and some snacks, which turned out unnecessary, coz these were available everywhere in PD. Then we needed some breakfast, so we waited for Uncle John’s cafe to open at 9.00am. So much for trying to make it early. By the time we head out, it was 9.40am, stomachs filled. However, it was just nice for Josiah to take his nap in the car. John drove and we actually got lost and took the highway from Seremban to JB! Thank God for Google maps, I made a Uturn and headed back to PD. By the time we reached it was near afternoon, and very hot! We stopped by a public beach to look around, then headed to Selesa Beach resort to use their facilities hehe.

Found a nice quiet place to nurse Josiah before going out to search for some seafood lunch that I read about in some blogs. Just a bit of a drive from Selesa are a row of shophouses, and Haw Hah seafood restaurant with air cond.

John started ordering, and it’s all about prawns, crabs and fish. This is butter prawn. Very very fresh!

Siakap Fish is like RM5 per kg. Very nice too.

Nothing beats the Chilli crabs! Huge…

Since we’re omnivores, we better have some mixed vege too… 😛
All in all, it emptied us of RM90 but certainly filled us up well for a day at the beach.

Since it was still really hot, we couldn’t head down to the beach yet, but decided to take a drive and let Josiah nap. By the time he woke and we had toured the small PD town, it was getting cooler and cloudier at 3pm.

We found a shady spot under the trees at the public beach, bought a mat for RM13 and set out a picnic camp. Next to us, a Malay lady started playing with Josiah, and he reciprocated with smiles for all. But that area’s sand was not nice, and there were seeds and twigs everywhere, so when the sun decided to hide its face in the clouds, we moved Josiah further out nearer to the sea, where the sand was white and pure.

Josiah was extremely curious about the sand, touching it and feeling it and giggling to himself. We were kinda afraid of it getting into his eyes, but all is well. There were so many people at the beach, including a poodle.

Josiah looked at his toys, but didn’t really know how to use it yet.

There was even a sexy lady modelling away, and halfway doing her photoshoot, she stopped to take photos of Josiah. Too bad we didn’t get her contact, I’m sure our guy friends wished we did, coz would love to get Josiah’s pics from her.

After only an hour and a half on the beach, we decided to head back to Kajang as the storms were coming in, and we didn’t wanna get caught in the rain and jam. True enough, as we drove out of PD, the rain started pouring, and Josiah took his 3rd nap. I think I did too. 😛 PD is really nice, thank God for His beautiful creations.

  1. His reaction to sand is totally different from Arielle! When we introduced Arielle to sand in Penang, she was curling her little toes; she was afraid to get in contact with it!

  3. Hi Leona, I stumbled upon your blog and realised that we both support breastfeeding and cloth-diapering and our (chubby) boys are about the same age (Feb 09). So many coincidences!

Anyway, great blog you have and feel free to join in the current cloth diaper Giveaway in my blog, MummysReviews.com.

    Happy parenting! 🙂
