Nature’s Haven in El Sanctuary, Alor Gajah

Chalets

Prior to this, I had never knew a place like this exist in Malacca. El Sanctuary, a small budget resort situated in Alor Gajah, like life away from the bustling city into the peace and quiet of a jungle setting. I love the place, as it kind of reminds me of the jungle resorts in my hometown. If you love nature, greens, trees, animals, dogs and cats and great food, and you don’t mind no aircond, and more mozzies, then you will love it here. Mosquitoes absolutely love to eat me, so until now I still feel the itch from the bites. But you can always use a repellent.

This place has chalets and dorms, but it’s the chalet living experience that is really special. The chalets are built on a slope, and you have to climb to reach the top chalets. All the chalets have names, such as Hope, Salvation, etc. The chalets are equipped with an attached toilet and bath with heater, a fan, 2 king sized beds (up to 7 people) and the whole place even has wifi. Forget about in house TV and stuff like that. This is supposed to be back to nature.

The resort is really unique as it is run by a big family, headed by Vincent and Ann and their family. They were actually from Kajang. Dog lovers would love it here as they keep many dogs.

And then there’s one cat.

This cat is so fierce, loves to scratch and bite. But he’s pretty tame with me, and loves to nap on my lap. This is something Elma would never do, so Elma is still the fiercest cat ever.

The deco in Elsanctuary is rustic and yet modern. There are antiques placed everywhere and yet the bathrooms and toilets are modern and very functional.

For outdoor activities, guests can freely use the volleyball court, netball court, and build campfires. Too bad, it was rainy season when we were there, so we have limited opportunities for outdoor activities. I heard there’s also a beach just 20 minutes’ drive away.

What we cannot forget about this place is the food! The food deserves such high praises that I have to write a separate post later just about the food and the food alone!

  3. For any queries of El Sanctuary, Malacca, you may call 06-3163317 look for shearman or sherson. Their website is at http://www.elsanctuary.com They have a map there too http://www.elsanctuary.com/map.htm. Oh yea on the map is Shearman’s hp no. too…0162173177 with the address. The place is very near to Alor Gajah town and pretty easy to find with good directions from Shearman. I have bad directions so I better not direct you to the wrong place. Bring good mosquitoe repellent to make the trip more pleasant. If not mistaken, they also can arrange for tours to nearby places, the beach, waterfall or something. The family is super friendly and pleasant, so can ask them anything! Hope you have a great trip…If you blog do write about it…
