According to www.piramindwelt.com, Genting’s First World Hotel was opened in 2002, it wasn’t there the last time I was an underage trying to get into Genting’s Casino back in 1999. Anyways, the First World Hotel is this huge 6000 over rooms colourful building. I paid for a Standard room over the Merdeka (Independence Day) holidays, only for RM95 room only package.
The hotel is huge with a gigantic lobby, so big you can’t really check in at the counter. Guests have to check in using some automated machines with their MyKad and the keycard to the rooms pop out of the machines. You don’t get any personal services at this hotel coz of the number of people checking in each day. There are probably over 10000 people that walk in and out of the hotel that day.
Anyways, the hotel may be the big but the standard room was tiny.
So tiny that the wash basin was outside next to the entrance of the room. The toilets and shower are adjacent to each other and enclosed in a box with glass doors that has no lock.
The room was more like a budget hotel room. There are none of those normal hotel utilities such as fridge, coffee/tea facilities, shampoos, soap, lotion etc, not even a cupboard with doors.
Instead, next to the basin is a 3 in 1 Shampoo, Bath Gel and Conditioner in a wall pump. They have the same thing in the shower.
The two beds were big though, there were too super sized singles.
Also, a small TV in the room with local channels and Vision Four to keep you entertained when you’ve walked your feet tired around the resort. I guess for RM95, it was well worth it, the First World hotel sure knows how to budget.
you pay peanut, you get monkey…
