Christmas Press Release

Our production press release finally came out in The Star.

Our members got pretty excited, we were passing around the article, people were making calls and sending text messages about it. Those featured in the article must have flipped, coz I don’t think some of them knew we were taking these pics for the papers that day. Anyways, here’s what’s written in the article from the online paper.

True meaning of Xmas presented in musical drama

By GEETHA KRISHNAN

THE true meaning of Christmas will be emphasised in a musical drama to be staged next weekend in Kajang.

Around 80 members of the Kajang Assembly of God (KAOG) will act in the drama entitled A Christmas to Remember, scheduled for 7.30pm on Dec 17 and 18 at the church premises in Jalan Timur.

The cast during the full dress rehearsal.
Co-director Leona Lim, who handled the production aspect, said the drama was aimed at educating people, especially adolescents, on the true significance of Christmas, that is the birth of Jesus Christ in the town of Bethlehem more than 2,000 years ago.

“The first scene opens at a shopping mall with a couple walking around, admiring the Christmas decorations and wondering about the real meaning of Christmas. They are then transported back in time to the Nativity scene,” she explained.

The production was undertaken with a budget of RM10,000 that went on costumes, props and sets. However, admission to both shows is free.

The 60-minute drama, termed as the biggest musical effort attempted by the KAOG this decade, has been on the drawing board since August. Lim added that the church was considering staging such dramas on an annual basis.

A Christmas to Remember will be the highlight of the evening but there will be other performances in the form of songs and dances to entertain the guests further. Light refreshments will be served after the praise and worship session.

Each show is expected to draw 500 guests. Non-church members who attend will be presented with door gifts upon completing a questionnaire on the musical and the fellowship in general.

Free parking will be available at the open-air car park behind the church and next to the main building. Alternative parking space will be available in the open area near SJK (C) Yu Hua.

The KAOG is located at 52, Jalan Timur (03-8736 1890). More information on the drama can be obtained during office hours from 10am to 5pm daily except Mondays.
