Saving a buck at the toll

I was fetched by Jet to go to Kajang Prima today to get something. To get there from my house, the shortest route is to pass through the Silk highway, where in the middle sits a nice toll plaza, charging users of the road RM1 each time. Now the alternative route is to go through town area, which at that time, was pretty jam. So, reluctantly Jet decided to take the toll road, he was adamant though, that he won?t need to pay a single sen.

We cruised along the 6 lane road, and reached the toll, where another car was just in front. I noticed a siren sitting on top the counter, and wondered what it was for. Little did I know that I was going to know its use very soon. As the Kancil in front of us shot off, and the bar was just lowering, all of a sudden, Jet pressed hard on his accelerator, and speed past the bar, just a few inches before it banged on the car! At this moment I was in shock and awe. In a case of accident, a car borrowed from a motorlender wouldn’t have caused as much trouble in the long run as a personal car that one would have put on the line.

Things began to happen really fast, before I knew it sirens were blaring really loudly from the toll plaza, and out of the toll building, came the plus uniformed guards running, some on bikes and giving us chase. I shouted at Jet at what he was doing, but the fire in his eyes looked as if he was possessed. I must add here that Jet is always up to no good, he hates the law and always try to make things go his way.

I was in panic then, as I caught sight of the big bike looming up next to me, the guard on it looking furious as he tried to signal to Jet to stop, we were going at high speed then, probably about 150 km/hour. Cars started giving chase too, and I saw about six white cars, with green stripes with sirens on them speeding past us, then screeching to a stop lining up next to each other about 100m in front. I had no idea that Silk had so many guards with cars so similar to police cars. Anyways, at that time Jet started to brake, as there were to place for us to pass through. Other cars had been blocked by the toll as cars started to pile up and caused a massive jam right there in Kajang Silk highway.

I stared at Jet in disbelief; questioning what he was going to do now that we are caught. The guards started coming out of their cars, and walked or crawled wearily towards us. They were unarmed however. Just then, Jet opened his door and walked out to them. I heard the guard shouting at him, ?Apa hal dengan lu ah? Satu ringgit aje tak boleh bayar nak buat hal ni?? (?What the heck is wrong with you ah! One ringgit only also cannot pay want to make this entire problem??) It bewildered me too, what?s up with one ringgit! But then, I know Jet, he?s always in for the thrill. He believes that he is immortal, and can walk through any catastrophe alive.

As I pondered and looked up again, to my utter disbelief, the men were fighting! It was hand combat. Some super stunts I had seen on TV kungfu shows. Jet was superb at avoiding the blows while the guard himself has some skills with his feet. The other guards started running towards them too, and in a couple of seconds, everything was in a mess. Jet was punching and kicking so many guards, some were flying off the road hitting the toll plaza. The ladies in the toll booths were screaming their hearts out, lots of people had gathered to watch what was going on. It was a reminder of a scene from the Matrix or something.

In a matter of minutes, Jet had totally defeated all the guards, some of them were scattering away in fear of getting another massive blow to the face. The cars were reversing and disappearing into the distance. Those on bikes quickly rode back into their building, bringing along their injured friends.

Jet came back into the car, without saying a word, started the engine and drove on towards Prima. He mentioned something about being thirsty and needed a cold drink. I was still speechless and didn?t know how to react. Everything happened so fast in just ten minutes that I counted, and it all seemed so unreal. It was like I was in a movie or something. There was the bad and the good, there were car chases, fight scenes?just nice for a Hollywood flick!
