Josiah has started showing symptoms of teething since last month. Now at 6 months, he’s showing it even more, by bursting into tears suddenly. For the last 3 days, he was bursting into tears halfway while sleeping, another time halfway while nursing, and one time while playing. At first, we really didn’t know what happened, and had to do many things to calm him down. We thought it was something external that hurt him or something. Well, today, we just gave him a teether after he cried so loudly with tear streaming down the face, and nearly choking when crying. Immediately he bit and chewed on the teether and quieten down, after which he continued nursing and went to sleep. He’s been a asleep for nearly 5 hours now.
When it comes to teethers, I make sure they are bpa free too. At the moment, Josiah’s fav is the Combi stage 2 teether, which looks like a UFO.
I love the Combi 2 teether because of it’s container that comes with it, the nice bright colours, the easy to hold shape and every part of it that is bite able. A container is really important so I can easily put it back and keep it clean from contaminants when not in use.
Josiah knew how to use it from the first moment I gave it to him, compared to other teethers I have tried.
For convenience sake I have another teether stand by, as the Combi teether is usually left at the baby sitter’s place. So I tried out this from Natursutten.
It’s completely bpa and latex free too. This one is good as it contains water so I can cool it in the fridge. A cooled teether releaves the teething pain a lot. However, this teether is a bit thick and Josiah has a tiny mouth, so maybe it would be more suitable when he gets bigger. Nevertheless it works too, and it’s great to calm a fussy baby and takes his attention away from his current dissatisfaction.
Now we’re just waiting to see the first tooth emerge, and when that happens, we’re praying it won’t cause too big a change.
Fever and lau sai are part and parcel of the teething package… and very kesian when they cry, it’s like they’re being tortured, huh huh…
lots of hugs and sayang needed for baby to get through this difficult time for them.
