Aussie band ready to rock

The title is a direct rip off from the NST article published yesterday, in Sunday People about the FUEL Concert we had been organising. Thanks to Lin Shi for getting that out.

THINGS may have quietened down a bit now that the Merdeka celebration is over but that doesn’t mean you have to stay glued to the idiot box at home.

Get off that couch and come for a different kind of celebration this Saturday in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur.

Think energy, think passion. It’s a power-packed concert that features the Christian City Church (CCC) band from Sydney, Australia. Wait a minute, you ask, isn’t that more for the young with their annoying penchant for deafening guitar-driven rock music? You couldn’t be more wrong.

Led by multi-award winning songwriter, producer and author Jeff Crabtree, the 10-member band has promised something for everyone; that people with a wide variety of musical tastes can identify with.

They are set to saturate the concert hall with inspirational, thought-provoking songs written by CCC members. Get the drift? There will be no bored spectators.

The CCC has 26 albums of contemporary gospel music, described as “relevant to today’s culture”, to its credit. The church in Oxford Falls, a suburb of the Northern Beaches, also has a School of Creative Arts which offers courses in acting, dancing, screen production, songwriting, vocals and visual arts. This explains why the band has never been short of talents since it started producing albums in 1990 and touring the world.

Travelling with Crabtree to Kuala Lumpur are Joshua Bedoukian (on drums), Miriam Johnston (violin), Timothy Williams (drums/percussion), Julia Michaels (vocals), Struan Wardlaw (guitar), Anita Anggraeni (keyboard), Bonar Abraham (bass guitar), Ashleigh Cooper (vocals) and Lawren Taylor (production manager).

Electrifying guitar riffs, atmospheric keyboards, crisp polished vocals – all these and more – await you. Get ready to party – the CCC way.

The CCC concert is on Sept 15, 8.30pm, at Dewan Wawasan in Menara PGRM, in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur. Visit www.kaog.org.my/fuel or call 03-8736-1890. Entrance is free.
